Very frequently in the news, especially on television, we may see big excavating equipment operating in opencast mines all over the world. Enormous earthmoving machines breaking through the tons of rock materials to bring to the surface the riches from beneath the surface of the earth.

Even though Polish machinery is widely employed in mines, it is not the situation that Polish manufacturers have a holding on equipping local mines.

Nonetheless, we give the choice of machinery parameters to miners. Each machine working on the outgrowth is an expense of several dozen million zlotys for the pit, but once in many years. The requirement of the future is to succeed the miners, in their most risky and tiresome work in opencast and subterranean mines, mining machines with AI. These are supposed to be mining machines that hear, observe and perceive, and therefore self-drilling and self-steering, with only essential human interference. The absolute need to increment the safety, availability and efficiency of mining machinery and equipment employed in extensive and complex mining and transportations systems of opencast mines reqUEsts remote control of machines or even the independence of their work. This is specially true for those zones of the world where there are issues in involve specialists to work in the opencast mine (underground drill rigs) because of its whereabouts away from human habitation and in a climate that is unfriendly to humans.

Currently, openpit mines are the most progressive in the introduction of comprehensive automation, gradually evolving into autonomous operation of mining machines.
